Baynes & White is proud to be celebrating over 33 years as an employee benefits and pension consulting firm, formed exclusively to provide a personalized approach to benefit plan management.

Our mandate is to provide our services in a cost-effective manner, and our boutique-style approach to the benefits industry means lower overhead, which directly translates into making our services affordable for clients with small and medium-sized plans. We know that there is an ever-increasing cost conscious focus for all employers, so we’ve become specialists in maximizing the cost-effectiveness of our clients’ benefit dollars.
Alex Eaton
Outside of work, Alex is actively involved in his community through coaching hockey and mentoring junior and professional athletes. He is also committed to giving back through various charitable initiatives.
Alex is passionate about building strong relationships and helping businesses create effective employee benefits solutions for their teams. With almost 20 years of experience in the insurance and employee benefits industry, Alex takes a client-focused approach centered on service, responsiveness and long-term partnerships. He is a graduate of The University of Western and looks forward to continuing to support clients and grow with Baynes & White.

Pam Martin, CEBS, FLMI
Senior Consultant
For our clients, Pam is a trusted advisor, proactive problem solver and knowledgeable source of information on employee benefits. Her 30+ years of experience in group administration, underwriting, sales and consulting is used to help our clients enjoy the best benefits at the best price with the best service. Pam is also a graduate of the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program (CEBS) offered through Dalhousie University.

Yvonne Elsdon, BCOM, FLMI, GBA
Senior Consultant
Yvonne brings over 30 years of experience in the group benefits industry, with extensive expertise in underwriting, consulting, and benefits administration. Throughout her career, she has held senior group benefits underwriting roles with leading insurance carriers, specializing in the design and management of large, complex traditional and flexible benefit plans. In addition to her carrier experience, Yvonne has worked with consulting firms and third-party administrators as both a Benefits Specialist and Group Benefits Consultant, providing strategic guidance and customized solutions to a diverse range of clients.
Yvonne holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, has earned the Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation, and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). She joined Baynes & White in 2017, where she continues to leverage her extensive industry knowledge to deliver exceptional service and innovative benefit solutions for clients.

Anne Moore
Benefit Specialist
With 10 years of experience in the Group Benefits industry, Anne is dedicated to providing knowledgeable, responsive support to employers as they navigate their employee benefit programs. She holds a degree in Human Resources and is currently pursuing her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation to further strengthen her expertise and better serve her clients.
Anne is passionate about working with small and mid-sized businesses and appreciates the personalized approach offered by boutique firms such as Baynes & White. She believes that smaller firms are uniquely positioned to provide attentive service, practical guidance, and strong client relationships that help employers feel supported every step of the way.
Actuarial and Retirement Practice Leaders

June Smyth, FCIA, FIA, FSA
Senior Consulting Actuary & Practice Leader
With over 30 years in the business, June has extensive consulting experience, diversified in matters involving plan design, consolidations, conversions, and windups, with respect to DB, CAP, SERP, and OPEB plans of Canadian, U.S. and multinational companies. as well as managing small to mid-size plans registered in various jurisdictions across Canada. June has volunteered on various committees of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries over the past 15 years and currently serves on the Pension Practice Committee. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, the Institute of Actuaries (UK), the Society of Actuaries, and a graduate from the University of Western Ontario in Applied Mathematics. June also serves on two NPO Boards.

Carolyn MacDonald
Senior Consultant
Carolyn is manager of our CAP department, overseeing essential plan governance services such as plan reviews, investment reviews and member education for DC Plans, RRSPs, DPSPs and TFSAs.
She has 30+ years of experience and knowledge in the Pension and Retirement Savings industry, working in various roles including Director Business Development, Member education, Client Relationship Management and Consulting.

Lavinia Haba
Pension Analyst
Majors in Economics and Actuarial Science, Minor in Mathematics
Lavinia has a degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Toronto. Her experience was exclusively with defined benefit plans prior to joining Baynes & White in mid 2020, but she has been quickly picking up the CAP consulting side of the business. She is an excellent addition to the Baynes & White team, having completed three actuarial exams, and is conversant in French.
